Day 1

We were given our name tags and our work placement information. We were then brought to the work placement for a tour and a guide to see how to get there and what the people there are like. That was over by 12 oclock, so after that me and a few others headed down to the beach for a swim despite the bad weather.we were the only people on the whole beach that got into the water

Day 2

Today we headed into the work placement for our first full day. I was nervous on the way but once I was there I settled into it. I can see it’s going to be a challenge for the next 2 weeks with the language barrier however I’m more than happy to get used to it.

My Erasmus trip

On Monday 20th January we were introduced to our workplaces, mine is as an SNA, I began working in my work placement on Tuesday 21st. I met with the principal of the school on Monday where I’d be doing my work experience and hot it off straight away. So, I went in on Tuesday for nine am as I had asked the principal what the teachers work hours were, he told me nine to two, so even though my introduction sheet was for 9:30 – 2:30 pm, I changed it to match the school’s work hours, it seemed only fair.

Day 1: The language is the biggest barrier, it means not being able to ask questions and getting to know the people you are working with, but I managed. I spent the day shadowing and watching, then when I felt I had a handle on how things were being done I started to help out with the kids in my classroom. I found the day to be very rewarding even with the language barrier.

Day 2: I started off my second day in school. I wasn’t as nervous as I had been on the first day. Helped all day, the first hour and a half is all about letting the children settle in, we did days of the week with the children, then watched YouTube with songs based on the days of the week, months of the year and the four seasons. Then myself and the teachers set up a kind of assault course in the gym mid morning with soft play toys and turned it into a game with music.

After that it was break time so we settled all the children down for lunch at around 11 am and at the same time, relaxing music was put on quietly in the background.

After lunch was finished other teachers then took the children off in order for us to have a break for lunch. When our lunch break was over we then had quiet time in the classroom, again with relaxing music on in the background in order for the children to take a nap if needed. For the last hour or so, we just played games with the children, puzzles, word games, that kind of thing , until home time at 2 pm.

Days 1-3

Day 1:

The day began with a meeting explaining what work I will be doing and then going to the work placement to meet the staff and tour the school to get familiar with where everything is. The school is not too far as it only takes half an hour to get there. I finished up around 1.30pm and had a look around the town with some friends. Later on in the day we went to Plaza Mayor and shopped for a few hours and got some food. In the evening we met up with some other students to play some games like pool and ping pong.

Day 2:

Woke up at 7.30am as work started at 9.15 and made my way to the school. I had participated in many classes including English, dactylology, and a workshop. After that i took the day to get essentials in Lidl and then relax back at my room. We had a walking tour scheduled but it was cancelled due to the weather so it was pushed to Wednesday.

Day 3:

Today I was up at 6.30am as I had to be at the school for 8.15am for a workshop where they were building a radio to educate the younger students about caring and being mindful of those with a disabilities such as being in a wheelchair, blindness, deafness, etc. Later on we went on the walking tour and were educated on some of malagas history and about the different events that take place. In the evening some of us went out for food then met up with more friends for drinks.

Day 4 in Malaga

On my fourth day I groomed more dogs and started learning how to cut hair on a model dog, so I was able to practise during the down time I had.

We had a walking tour later in the day where we learned some of the history of Malaga and its streets. It was really eye opening and interesting. Afterwards a few from our group went out for dinner to a beautiful Italian restaurant. So far all the food I’ve been eating has been amazing, especially all the pastas..

Day 4, today in work placement I created the children’s city with them. We all sat down and first painted on the brown followed by the blue in the backgrounds, we then washed our hands and waited for the paint to dry. Once the paint was dry we stuck on the things the children see in their city. The children really enjoyed this activity and I was happy to see that. The children were well behaved during the activity and throughout the whole day. After we finished our activity we began to read some books and play with the toys. Once play time was completed we sat down to eat our lunch, the children always eat all of their lunch and are very well behaved during lunch. After lunch we got washed up and ready for nap time.
Day 4:
After a good day working in the preschool, we were brought on a lovely tour of some famous historic monuments in Malaga. We learnt many interesting facts about the history and got to see some beautiful monuments. My friends and I then went for some food and relaxed before preparing for our next day of work placement.

Working Day 2

Cooking up a storm after a long day 2. Me and Kyle went to work at 10, sun was shining like summer time. Spent the day painting the shop and got off at about 2. Myself, Kyle and Kian went up to the gym after work and shortly after we went on a walking tour of Malaga, its a beautiful area that I without a doubt would not have seen otherwise. Having the time of my life out here

Working to walking

I start my day by leaving the accommodation at 7:20, to be in work experience for 8:30. This is a trip will not be missed.

The tour was great and spain has some fantastic attractions and history.
