Malaga 2026

Last day in work started doing a pe class , then we watched a movie in the cinema room which was pretty cool and I didn’t know was there. I had McDonald’s for lunch once again and then we came back to the cinema room for the last two classes. For the last 15 mins I went up to my class to give the teacher a present and it was a pleasant surprise. The whole class was cheering and whistling it was great to see and slightly emotional as its sad to see them for the last time but I’m honestly so greatful for the two weeks I had with them and the memories I’ve made along the two weeks. When I got home from work I just finished packing to be ready in the morning and I got resdy for our group meal . The group meal was good fun and good way the end of the trip. We had a few drinks after and finished off the night with a pizza downstairs

Our last day in Luz y Tierra was different to the others, we opened up shop at 10 and did the normal opening duties until 11, when we were sent out into the town to find an organic market to buy cabbage. Quite a strange mission but it beats painting. We said our goodbyes to Laura and Rafa at 2 and they were very appreciative of our help over the past couple of weeks, theyre lovely people with a lovely business.
The last day ended with a group meal in Morrisey’s where we were all together for the last time. At this point I think most are ready to go home, but I reckon I have another few weeks in me, this has been the best experience of my life.
Today was the last day of work. My teacher was unfortunately out sick so I never got to personally give her a letter and chocolates but I had the chance to give it to another teacher.
First class a different teacher invited me into the cinema room to watch Alice in wonderland and my 4th graders weren’t there so I had around an hour and a half to chill.
After was recess. Then we had maths which the teacher which was covering the kids just done bingo with the kids. They had cards with loads of numbers on them and I had to write out the multiplication sum for the kids to solve. Then it was my 4th graders turn to watch a movie in the cinema and unfortunately it was Alice in Wonderland again which I had to sit through again.
Home time was very emotional with all the kids giving me a big hug goodbye.
Later in the evening we met up at a pub for a group meal. It was lovely having a meal together before we all head off. After i headed home and Finished packing.

Today is Friday and our final day of work experience, tomorrow morning we have our flight back to Dublin. It has been an amazing experience and having never been to mainland Spain before, I haven’t been disappointed.
It was harder than I imagined it would be on my last day in the SNA unit in the ‘CEIP Manuel Altolaguirre’ school. The two weeks were very interesting and I got on well with all the kids, even with the language barrier. All the kids in the mainstream classes loved to test their French and English with me at lunch time as well which was an added bonus.
We all had our celebratory dinner tonight in Morrissey’s, the food was lovely and the great company made it a perfect evening to finish off our Erasmus+ trip.
I feel that I got on well with everybody that I met and spoke to; even without fluent Spanish. I also met a good mixture of people in the accommodation including; an American lady from New York, an Italian lady and a good few French people from different parts of France, who are all over for studying.
I will definitely be visiting Spain again, and now that I have been here, I have a good starting point for when I come over again. This part of the country is very scenic, with the Mediterranean sea on one side with the backdrop of mountains it really is a great place to visit.
Thanks for reading.

Over 1000 people participating in Peace day today which is similar to Sports day in Ireland. The focus of the activities was bringing people together and having fun.
Today was world peace day so to start off in work our teacher let the kids practice their dance they’ve been preparing to preform with the school out in malaga central.
I had the job of going around and drawing peace signs on both hands of the kids so they can get a photo taken with their arms up.
After this was all done we headed just outside as our school is already in central and we were greeted by all the parents in the school. Each class group took their positions and a teacher gave a little talk first then the dancing began. During this I had an english couple come up to me and ask what was going on so it was nice to talk to someone who speaks english other then people on Erasmus.
After this was all done the kids had their 45 minute recess. There was a total of 17 kids in today in the class. After break the kids had music where they practiced playing notes on the recorder.
Last class was maths where they continued on with short division sums.
Later we went to a flamenco show in the town. It was very nice with 4 dancers/singers on the stage showing us the spanish dancing culture. It went on for around an hour.

Today was slightly different in school as all the kids in the school, including our class, were mostly wearing white tops and after lunch, were all out on the playground in their class lines.
Today is a special day , it’s World Peace day so we had the whole school out there in the playground to celebrate.
The kids and teachers all had a great time and then when it was time to go into our classroom, the kids in our class had downtime with their iPads until finish time.
This evening we had a Flamenco evening, it was amazing. The theatre where it was shown is really small and intimate and due to this, you could feel the power of the songs and the dancing. I have never seen a flamenco dance before and I shall cherish the memory.

Day 10:
On Wednesday (day 10) I was asked to go onto the schools podcast where they asked me about the Erasmus trip, like how I applied and my experience on the trip. They then asked me questions about things in Ireland compared to here in Malaga, such as transport and work.
After work I went to Plaza Mayor where I had food and bought clothes. I spent a few hours there then went back to the accommodation. I then spent the evening watching football in the cinema room.
Day 11:
Work began with a class where you learn how to take care of household chores such as ironing and washing. Then we were met by Laura and Paula who came to see how we were getting on in work and they were talking to my supervisor to get a report on my work.
After work there was a flamenco show on that lasted an hour. I enjoyed it as it was a unique experience. Then we watched the Man UTD football match in the cinema room and called it a night.

I have finally finished painting my wall.
After endless mistakes and leaks of paint- it’s done. I am quite happy with it, even though it isn’t my design- I tried my very best to make it somewhat mine.
I wouldn’t be able to finish it if it wasn’t for the help from Siobhan and Kian, as they did all the boring, long bits that i hated doing.
Hope yall like it as much as i do!
